My open letter to Mayor Rahm Emmanuel

Dear Rahm,

In the many days prior to this, I have spoken to you though a chosen method of public disclose such a media. As the President of my organization and the local leader of S.C.L.C -Freedom First International which has numerous affiliated organizations throughout the country.-I would hope that you would accommodate any suggestions offered purely as a means to provide help, for the suffering and oppressed in our community. For the record the efforts that you’ve made downtown have made a noticeable difference, for this accomplishment- I know many would appreciate.  I would also ask, that you remain aware of the continued efforts of those who are on the ground in impoverished communities, and continue to reach out and bring new ideas to the table outside of the groups that you may have longstanding “comfortable,” relationship, even if those group don’t embrace your office, and your position as Chicago Mayor.

You must now finds ways to encourage our thousands of African Americans to participate in a unique Chicago experience- to “secure and entrench themselves, or you will find yourself in a development that will inevitably lead to a growing frightening racial and political nightmare-for purposes of clarification-what we are seeing is the growing divide in the city amongst racial lines, a fact which I sure you know, but in the aftermath of the growing internal violence, repeated community violence, and growing dissatisfaction that goes above political discourse. Many of us would hope for immediate attention. For example;

Besides complaints of blatant discrimination and the use of offensive and menacing actions, such as the Mt.Greenwood Protest that was lead by Blue Lives Matters. Many of the group-Chicago officers who (had) have lamented persistent racial insensitivity, which was demeaning and at the same time-they were wearing police colors, and facts show that many who stood in those ranks were police. The problem that exist- if that is the case, then are these officers are the same one’s patrolling the our(black and minority) communities-with the same blatant racist tendencies, I would ask that you publicly sanction racism coming from within the ranks of CPD while, you may say, that policy is already in place, but urgent times-require a urgent and consistent “reminder” effort. If Those officers are the same ones who patrol the black and minority communities, I for one would be interested in further investigation to see if these office have any previous racial discrepancies (disciplinary actions) in their file. A move which, my organization is willing to support. Lastly, consider shifting the police staffing on demographics. Black officers should be better equipped to handle black citizens, on a psychological level in black areas-a move which may help to quell the the growing number of Police involved shootings in the black community.

Lastly, what I was referring to when I suggested, “Thousands of African Americans to participate in a unique Chicago experience,” I would ask that you consider rebuilding C.A.P.S to provide cultural sensitivity and cater special emphasis- more to the areas that are challenged. Also, My organization and partners conducted a press conference outside of Police District 7 on Nov.26, 2016. There we asked for you to, ‘please’ without hesitation to roll out-Body Camera’s at challenged districts-like District 7. For reasons that no further explanation is needed.

I will end by saying all public displays of protesters protection by the police are in stark contrast to the typical usual treatment that most black and minority citizens, experience and, please promote those moments as they are good for public relations, and will help “to preserve the community. Thanks for any time reading my “open” letter.

For Immediate Release: Chicago Activist and Civil Rights Leadership will stand and rally after police fatally shot 19 year old African American in the back

(District 7-Police Station)

 ***** Media Advisory *****

Hundreds of Activist will stand and rally today Nov. 26, 2016-Police fatally shot 19 year old African American Male-Kajuan Raye. In an unfortunate, tragic, and unclear set of circumstances the black teenager was shot in the back and killed by a Chicago police officer in the city’s South Side on the night before Thanksgiving. Kajuan Raye was waiting to take the bus home when he was approached by the officer, who claims he matched the description of a suspect in a ‘battery in progress’ on Wednesday night. Raye began to run away and the officer chased after him, according to authorities.

The sergeant claimed Raye turned and pointed a weapon at him ‘on two separate occasions during the pursuit’, so he fired multiple shots at the suspect.

Also please note: the circumstances of the shooting are being investigated. Raye was struck and killed. Police have yet to find any weapon despite searching the area overnight, according to CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson.

‘We were not able to locate a weapon as of yet, Johnson said on Thursday.

Raye’s family is “heartbroken that their son is dead at the hands of a police officer who does not value the sanctity of life of black males,” the statement reads. “As a city we continue to struggle with police who are afraid of and have deep seeded prejudices against black youth.

Statement From Freedom First International

“The murder of Kajuan Raye is further indication of a Police Department who appear, is in the wrong, facts show that they-shot a young black male in the back, who posed no treat to the public. After approaching him on a bus stop, while on his way home.”

A growing number of citizens in Chicago’s Black and minority communities feel-This department has many officers will go through any means to cover their tracks, when they have taken human life.” Going forward the only stopping block for this seemingly routine killing to end is a well-informed public, who will rise up-and who will say, we are tired of our children’s lives being taken, no more lies, and justice for the lost lives, has to come swift, fast, and certain.” We call for the immediate arrest of the officers involved!

The question, to our Chicago Mayor and his The Police Chief now is: when will you reframe and get pass the public discourse about the communities deep distrust of the CPD- since the release of the Laquan McDonald shooting video, several serious, questionable shootings have occurred? The Black community of Chicagoland-feels vulnerable, we feel unprotected, and is the message now being sent to the CPD-that our protection has to come from us, because you won’t do it.” As it stands our protection seems to end on the borders of the downtown business district. If that’s the case that is tragic!

Gregg L Greer President of Freedom First International -(Southern Christian Leadership Conference-Chicago)

We call on Chicago Civic Leaders, Faith Leadership, Social Justice Activist, and concerned citizens-to follow and accept the “clarion call for November 26, 2016 2:00 pm (copy-face event invite below). We all must constantly respond to this type of call for aid. We should never again accept narrow, provincial “outside agitator” idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.

Media Debrief: The Racism in Mt.Greenwood-Chicago

Posted on Updated on

media-debrief

The first problem with “protest” is that the Blue Lives Matter movement got involved, and tried to change the narrative, it was not the Black Lives Matters advocacy who moved quickly to assist the Beal Family and have been supporting even after the death of Beal. Contrary to the story told by the Police-which differs from those who were with Beal when he was killed by an off-duty officer, but ” The off-duty police officer and the off-duty sergeant, who have not been identified, have both been placed on paid administrative leave, officials said. One of the officers was taken to the hospital after the incident, but was not seriously injured, police said.

The video shows several vehicles stopped in the middle of 111th Street near Troy Street. People can be heard yelling at each other as Nelson approaches.

A man in a red shirt approaches part of the crowd with what appears to be a gun in his hand. Another man can be seen telling people to back off and get on the ground. The man in the red shirt then appears to tuck his gun into his pants or a holster.

The video then pans back and forth a few times, and briefly shows a man in a white shirt appearing to point a gun before lowering it.

The shooting is being investigated by the city’s Independent Police Review Authority, they are looking to determine whether when Beal was shot if acted lawfully or did he have a reasonable fear for his life.

Please note: Per the Centers for Disease Control, police officer killings of blacks are down 75 percent over the last 47 years. Compared with blacks, twice as many whites are killed by cops. True, blacks represent about 25 percent of those shot by the police, and the black population is just over 13 percent. Still, a “movement” has now been launched.

The second problem with the all “protest” is that a good majority of the white mob from Mt. Greenwood were chanting “go home,” N-word,  and get the f— Out of here.  would be reluctant to blast its own community members and America for its alleged racism and oppression. Just to be clear this is about White America’s racism, in a white suburban division of Chicago and how the white locals for many years have responded the black and minorities in their community as outsiders. (Note Also, specifically they jeered the Beal family who was already in morning for a young man who had died, another who was murdered and a third who was incarnated after a run in with the police.”

While many Men and women of all colors, ethnicity and races have died for the flag, but our message today and on yesterday was something different.  While we understand that there are challenges and many only to see their sacrifice disrespected by in Mt. Greenwood?  We understand that you reminded us areas of Chicago Black on Black crime and homicide, we don’t want that either. In any case I totally agree with the quotes in the two videos shared below:

We are experiencing state sponsored violence that murdered black people-like Laqaun McDonald, Laqaun McDonald was killed, Quintonio LeGrier was killed, Betty Jones, was killed who killed them the same “God damned CPD-that they are cheering for.”

“It’s evident when you have people ready to laugh, and celebrate a murder, laughing and celebrating a murder-you would think that human beings would be capable of that”

s

At this point of my presentation, I’d like to mention what I call « state Freudian slips », which are akin to unconscious truths. I have numbered a few of them:

The Chicago Mayor’s whitewash

The first one was the Mayor of Chicago and city hall was represented  at the Protest by Associate Mayor Andrea Zapp and others who came with the “narrative let’s all get along.”  The classical narrative that they are using which is false, wants to say that, all is ok now-without regard the correcting real issue, which is the Mount Greenwood community and it’s long-term history of racial issues. It’s ok for the Mayor and his staff of, “paid,” proxies to whitewash this issue, but not at the expense of a family and who lost life.

The Establishment has always used those in society to be so-called-self-proclaimed “leaders” who would not dare to challenge them. They want blacks and others who will listen to them, vote for them, take their welfare, and affirm their cries of “systematic racism.” As a thing of the past! they say, “all is well boss.”

They represent a tremendous threat to the progressive ideology of those who want real change as opposed to symbolic posturing.

So, How do we deal with such an individual? By incriminating them, and by scrubbing their name at every opportunity. hip hop group Public Enemy’s song say’s it best “Don’t Believe the Hype”

Chicago police gunned my baby down  like a vicious animal,” Tiffaney Boxley, Beal’s mither, told WGN-TV. “They shot him twice in the back and three times in his front.”

We are facing a time when racist incidents endanger the safety of not just Blacks, but Latino and Muslim compatriots. A Kumbaya song and a bandage just won’t work. I’m sure if we asked members of the Beal Family if everything is ok, I’m sure they would say, “Oh hell no.” So-I’m with them. glg

***** Media Advisory *****

Hundreds of Activist Leading Social Justice organizations will stand and rally because on Nov. 5, 2016-Police fatally shot 25 year old African American Male-Joshua Beal, a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana. In an unfortunate, tragic, and unclear set of circumstances Beal was in town following a funeral procession of a cousin as pallbearer. Near 111th Street and Troy Avenue -Joshua Beal while still in the procession of cars-stopped in front of a firehouse on 111th Street, and blocked the entrance; a confrontation soon started, according to prosecutors records, that ended in a physical altercation between multiple individuals which included Beal. When Beal, who police said “allegedly,” then displayed a gun-and was shot multiple times by an off duty police who intervened once he saw the fight.

Also please note: the circumstances of the shooting are currently being investigated. What happens next would seen to many to also be unfortunate. Beal’s grieving family had “Ni**gers Go Home” and “Keep out of Our Town” screamed at them as they waited at a local Burger King for their cars to be released by the police. In the days after, protesters/activist who went to the scene were met by white mobs of hundreds who DNAinfo described as “demonstrators supporting police.”When the activist on the ground wanted to “peacefully” protest Beal’s- Shooting and also to give voice to address what they feel were questionable circumstances-they were met with bats, Racial hatred and large crowds many, “self identifying” as Blue Lives Matters Crowds. The statement below was taken from a Stop Mass Incarceration Network (rev.com)-spokeswoman:

N….gers Go Home!”, “Go Back to Englewood! “ and other vile racist threats were shouted at us from the mob of hundreds of white people surrounding the revcoms and other activists in Mt Greenwood Sunday .Some shouted out that they were friends and family of police. I expect many were off-duty cops. Mt Greenwood is home to many white police and firefighters. The police murder of Jason Beal was a lynching. This crowd was like a lynch mob of old.It made me think of footage I had seen of the racists attacking the Freedom Riders in the 1960’s or Marquette Park here in Chicago. But this was yesterday.. They also shouted “Trump, Trump. Trump” and “CPD, CPD, CPD.” Dee Williams, Revolution Club, Chicago

What must be done

We believe-That this is one occasion where it must-clear that words, prayers, and protest are not enough to stop the “long-term,” tension, and violence between police officers, community members, African Americans and other minorities who interact in this community. All across Chicago today, there must be condemnations, not just as a community but as a city for ending hate. We should never accept acts of hate, intimidation, and violence anywhere anytime against anyone for any reason. Across Chicago, the call for action “Now,” is clear. There are those in the community who stand against racial hate, then they should join as well. We will also question the fire department’s and police departments top brass who live in the community to answer to call against turmoil and violence and leave room for correction where diversity and values are upheld.

What should be the correct response from The Mayor

My concern is for the Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emmanuel to seriously question his leadership- In Mt.Greenwood- what’s really being done Mayor to prevent a looming “race war.” Many believe if the City of Chicago would have dealt with this Harassment, Racial Discrimination, excessive force issue a long time ago, we wouldn’t have an issue today.

We call on Chicago Civic Leaders, Faith Leadership, Social Justice Activist, and concerned citizens-to follow and accept the “clarion call for November 20, 2016 2:00 pm (copy-face event invite below) but more basically, Mt. Greenwood is a problem because of the long-term racial injustice is there. We all must constantly respond to this type of call for aid. We should never again accept narrow, provincial “outside agitator” idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.

(Over 800 people will be on Hand)

We went back to look at the unfavorable ratings of the major-party candidates from 1992 through the current election. The bottom line is that Trump was elected with a higher unfavorable rating than any candidate at any time during all of these previous election cycles, and that conclusion takes into account the fact that unfavorable ratings tend to rise in the heat of a general election campaign as the barbs, negative ads and heightened partisanship are take us to our highest disapproval levels-Our Country doesn’t need him and Chicago with all it’s problems doesn’t need Trump. We want to send this message to the world! Media-Don’t Miss This!
