Last week-when Chicago police raided the wrong home in South Side Chicago early last Friday morning. They (police) busted through the front door, guns drawn and demanded answers from the people inside. According to reports-the 10th district Police were executing a warrant as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation that led them to the 4th district residence. Officers said during the operation, they inadvertently breached the door of the incorrect residence. Shanae Cross, the homeowner, said she was in the bathroom when the officers broke down her down with guns drawn.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the officers moved through the bungalow, trying to handcuff a 17-year-old boy.

Press Conference at City Hall tomorrow

The family members lead by Cross are conducting a press conference at City Hall tomorrow to ask for specific demands from the city including addressing a pending civil litigation. Attending the conference will be prominent community activist and also family members of other Chicago Police Brutality Incidents.
To some observers such mistaken raids are not just that mistakes caused by mounting police frustration with the growing drug problem. Instead-The Cross Family and Community activist want immediate change and all agree that the time is pat due for Chicago to address it’s police brutality issues against folks in poor communities head on.The group also wants to bring light to the fact that almost a year to date-The scathing Justice Department investigation was released which showed-the Chicago Police Department is beset by widespread racial bias, excessive use of force, poor training and feckless oversight of officers accused of misconduct.
The finding issued January 2017 as the Justice Department and the city of Chicago issued “a statement of agreement” to find remedies to improve policing in the nation’s third-largest city and repair a shattered public trust.

“Sadly, our thorough investigation into the Chicago Police Department found that far too many residents of this proud city have not received that kind of policing especially when it comes to poor community’s, and communities of color.                                                                                            Freedom First International

“CPD deeply regrets the error and the inconvenience caused on Christmas weekend,” Anthony Guglielmi, Chief Communications Officer, said in an email statement.
