For Immediate Release: Chicago Activist and Civil Rights Leadership will stand and rally after police fatally shot 19 year old African American in the back

(District 7-Police Station)

 ***** Media Advisory *****

Hundreds of Activist will stand and rally today Nov. 26, 2016-Police fatally shot 19 year old African American Male-Kajuan Raye. In an unfortunate, tragic, and unclear set of circumstances the black teenager was shot in the back and killed by a Chicago police officer in the city’s South Side on the night before Thanksgiving. Kajuan Raye was waiting to take the bus home when he was approached by the officer, who claims he matched the description of a suspect in a ‘battery in progress’ on Wednesday night. Raye began to run away and the officer chased after him, according to authorities.

The sergeant claimed Raye turned and pointed a weapon at him ‘on two separate occasions during the pursuit’, so he fired multiple shots at the suspect.

Also please note: the circumstances of the shooting are being investigated. Raye was struck and killed. Police have yet to find any weapon despite searching the area overnight, according to CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson.

‘We were not able to locate a weapon as of yet, Johnson said on Thursday.

Raye’s family is “heartbroken that their son is dead at the hands of a police officer who does not value the sanctity of life of black males,” the statement reads. “As a city we continue to struggle with police who are afraid of and have deep seeded prejudices against black youth.

Statement From Freedom First International

“The murder of Kajuan Raye is further indication of a Police Department who appear, is in the wrong, facts show that they-shot a young black male in the back, who posed no treat to the public. After approaching him on a bus stop, while on his way home.”

A growing number of citizens in Chicago’s Black and minority communities feel-This department has many officers will go through any means to cover their tracks, when they have taken human life.” Going forward the only stopping block for this seemingly routine killing to end is a well-informed public, who will rise up-and who will say, we are tired of our children’s lives being taken, no more lies, and justice for the lost lives, has to come swift, fast, and certain.” We call for the immediate arrest of the officers involved!

The question, to our Chicago Mayor and his The Police Chief now is: when will you reframe and get pass the public discourse about the communities deep distrust of the CPD- since the release of the Laquan McDonald shooting video, several serious, questionable shootings have occurred? The Black community of Chicagoland-feels vulnerable, we feel unprotected, and is the message now being sent to the CPD-that our protection has to come from us, because you won’t do it.” As it stands our protection seems to end on the borders of the downtown business district. If that’s the case that is tragic!

Gregg L Greer President of Freedom First International -(Southern Christian Leadership Conference-Chicago)

We call on Chicago Civic Leaders, Faith Leadership, Social Justice Activist, and concerned citizens-to follow and accept the “clarion call for November 26, 2016 2:00 pm (copy-face event invite below). We all must constantly respond to this type of call for aid. We should never again accept narrow, provincial “outside agitator” idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.

***** Media Advisory *****

Hundreds of Activist Leading Social Justice organizations will stand and rally because on Nov. 5, 2016-Police fatally shot 25 year old African American Male-Joshua Beal, a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana. In an unfortunate, tragic, and unclear set of circumstances Beal was in town following a funeral procession of a cousin as pallbearer. Near 111th Street and Troy Avenue -Joshua Beal while still in the procession of cars-stopped in front of a firehouse on 111th Street, and blocked the entrance; a confrontation soon started, according to prosecutors records, that ended in a physical altercation between multiple individuals which included Beal. When Beal, who police said “allegedly,” then displayed a gun-and was shot multiple times by an off duty police who intervened once he saw the fight.

Also please note: the circumstances of the shooting are currently being investigated. What happens next would seen to many to also be unfortunate. Beal’s grieving family had “Ni**gers Go Home” and “Keep out of Our Town” screamed at them as they waited at a local Burger King for their cars to be released by the police. In the days after, protesters/activist who went to the scene were met by white mobs of hundreds who DNAinfo described as “demonstrators supporting police.”When the activist on the ground wanted to “peacefully” protest Beal’s- Shooting and also to give voice to address what they feel were questionable circumstances-they were met with bats, Racial hatred and large crowds many, “self identifying” as Blue Lives Matters Crowds. The statement below was taken from a Stop Mass Incarceration Network (rev.com)-spokeswoman:

N….gers Go Home!”, “Go Back to Englewood! “ and other vile racist threats were shouted at us from the mob of hundreds of white people surrounding the revcoms and other activists in Mt Greenwood Sunday .Some shouted out that they were friends and family of police. I expect many were off-duty cops. Mt Greenwood is home to many white police and firefighters. The police murder of Jason Beal was a lynching. This crowd was like a lynch mob of old.It made me think of footage I had seen of the racists attacking the Freedom Riders in the 1960’s or Marquette Park here in Chicago. But this was yesterday.. They also shouted “Trump, Trump. Trump” and “CPD, CPD, CPD.” Dee Williams, Revolution Club, Chicago

What must be done

We believe-That this is one occasion where it must-clear that words, prayers, and protest are not enough to stop the “long-term,” tension, and violence between police officers, community members, African Americans and other minorities who interact in this community. All across Chicago today, there must be condemnations, not just as a community but as a city for ending hate. We should never accept acts of hate, intimidation, and violence anywhere anytime against anyone for any reason. Across Chicago, the call for action “Now,” is clear. There are those in the community who stand against racial hate, then they should join as well. We will also question the fire department’s and police departments top brass who live in the community to answer to call against turmoil and violence and leave room for correction where diversity and values are upheld.

What should be the correct response from The Mayor

My concern is for the Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emmanuel to seriously question his leadership- In Mt.Greenwood- what’s really being done Mayor to prevent a looming “race war.” Many believe if the City of Chicago would have dealt with this Harassment, Racial Discrimination, excessive force issue a long time ago, we wouldn’t have an issue today.

(Over 200 Activist expected be on Hand)

We call on Chicago Civic Leaders, Faith Leadership, Social Justice Activist, and concerned citizens-to follow and accept the “clarion call for November 20, 2016 2:00 pm (copy-face event invite below) but more basically, Mt. Greenwood is a problem because of the long-term racial injustice is there. We all must constantly respond to this type of call for aid. We should never again accept narrow, provincial “outside agitator” idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.

(Press Conference-at City Hall  )

Activist still believe-To watch a 17-year-old young man die in such a violent manner is simply disturbing and they have absolutely no doubt that this video did rip open the hearts of all Chicagoans.” Many have argued the video alone is enough to determine that Van Dyke “acted inappropriately” when he fatally shot McDonald, though most who view it describe the footage as “graphic and violent” and “difficult to watch.”

For those who live in Chicagoland and surrounding communities-official efforts to change the underlying conditions on the two year anniversary of Laquan’s death have not changed. The violence—in homes, schools, and neighborhoods continues to grow have and official efforts have largely failed as we now reach and surpass historical levels of homicides. A group of community leaders and activist will hold a press conference tomorrow at Chicago City Hall because they still believe the officials all the way up to Mayor Rahm Emmanuel are still responsible for the cover up of the murder of Laquan Mcdonald- More specifically-they want to send a clear message, that simple says, “we still haven’t forgotten.”

Leading Social Justice organizations involved are Chicago Violence Interrupters, Freedom First International, The Chicago SCLC, Black Lives Matter along with a growing list others.

Chicago, Illinois

On This Wednesday July 20, 2016 at 11:00 am-The Freedom First International, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Violence interrupters, The Brady Campaign of  Illinois  along with other Community Activist (groups) will conduct a Protest Rally outside of Chucks Gun Shop and Riverdale City Hall calling for the local (south side) Chicago community to come together _”put down the Guns” in a effort to balance Justice for the Community.” This effort is much-needed at a time when Chicago has reached historical numbers with gun violence shootings.
Last Year Chicago Police stated that, on average, police have recovered a crime gun sold at Chuck’s Gun Shop & Pistol Range in Riverdale, Illinois every day for the past 10 years. This Store is widely protected by the NRA. We need to save lives! According to a recent article Chuck’s Gun Store sells over 2000 NRA memberships alone.

For their effort, they (group) will also announce Bi-Weekly initiatives to challenge the NRA, Chucks, The Illinois Riffle Association and the negative culture of the Chicago Violence, in addition to the ongoing campaign of belief that the integrity of the black and anti violence communities are being threatened by the violence, bad gun policy and that ongoing and progressive solutions must be sought.

The Hate that Hate Made!

Posted on Updated on

Greer Front Banner 2016

On Today July 17, 2016, many are aware of the current national news headlines detailing two cops who were killed in Baton Rouge, and multiple cops killed in Dallas, Texas last week.

In the wake of Tamir Rice in Cleveland, Mike Brown in Ferguson, Freddy Gray in Baltimore, Eric Garner New York City, Alton Sterling in Louisiana and stolen lives-elsewhere, most of the time black people in city’s across America have known for some time that there is a deep rooted issue in our communities. Many of us are totally aware of the nature of police oppression and violence against the black community in urban cities. This has happened to such an extent that we as (blacks) expect from the police a regular “shake down, ” at least once in our life and for some-we’ve become immune to this treatment.

baton-rouge-police

So maybe we should just start by saying a black man is three times more likely to be searched at a traffic stop, and seven times more likely to go jail than his white counterpart. Blacks make up nearly 40 percent of arrests for violent crimes, but  over 60 percent of prosecutions. Everyday thousands of blacks have suffered subliminal forms of discrimination to harsh issues both inside and outside the criminal justice system. We don’t need social science research to show how striking are the racial disparities exist at nearly every level for blacks-just go into the hood and ask a black person!  We have suffered from mass incarceration by ungodly arrest rates, to unheard of bail amounts for minimal crimes. One truly doesn’t need to  shift through any vast body of research to find the clearest indicators of racial disparities at different phases of the American Justice

Another study, by The Sentencing Project, examines vastly disproportionate rates of incarceration for African-American Men. We should be asking ourselves why these disparities exist?

With institutional racism in Job, schools, and communities black  have no choice but to push our way forward from here,  and most will tell you they are long tired of being victims.

Gregg L.Greer-President, Freedom First International-S.C.L.C Member

I’ve said in the recent past- Tamir Rice, Eric Garner and others are not victims of the lopsided school systems that failed them. They are victims of a police force that overwhelmingly assumes first that most young black men are criminals followed by fear of them. They are a victims of bad legislation, like the Florida’s Stand Your Ground law, that gives anyone the unfettered right to kill if they feel threatened in any way.

With institutional racism in Job, schools, and communities have no choice but to push our way forward from here.

The Father of hate will forever be lies, the forested lie that hate tells is some races are better than others. Eric A Russell-Founder of Tree of Life Justice League of IL.

Yes it’s tragic that Police officers who responded to Sunday’s shootings killed Long in a gun battle after the other officers were ambushed, police sources told CNN.

It’s sad that two of those who died were Baton Rouge police officers, said Police Chief Carl Dabadie. The gunman also killed a sheriff’s deputy and critically wounded a deputy who is “fighting for his life,” said East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux.

Another wounded deputy and police officer have non-life-threatening wounds, law officers said.

It is with this thought in mind-that we embrace the pain-that other communities are feeling, because we know this pain-it’s a way too familiar pain. This pain has slowly given rise to Black Militant groups such as the one pictured above. (Armed Black Militants Prep for War-you tube)

The pain that black’s have endured for many years-which simply says-we are victims of a certain Moral blindness– Which means every single black person in the eyes of a racist  is the sign of a terrible crime from their ugly past, a reminder that their life is a fraud, that they need to simply own up to their past and make it right. Instead of denying, shifting blame, or to lie, twisting the facts and make black people into these ungodly creatures that they look down on, laugh at and yet, oddly, fear. It is a failed attempt to be at “peace,” with themselves. Can someone consider apologizing to the Black community for the long hard years of systematic oppression. Maybe the killings of cops would stop.

It is my hope and most likely a dream- that the President and others who discuss the tragic circumstances of Dallas, and Baton Rouge will spend equal time discussing the level of frustration in the black community- I will caution all that-the time came yesterday- when the black community grew tired. Please know that we don’t want to blame anyone for senseless loss of life-but please-please tell me who’s to blame for the “Hate that Hate made.”

 Peace and Love

Hey, Rudy Giuliani -It’s time to shut the hell up! Buddy!

Posted on Updated on

Greer Front Banner 2016

Earlier today when I saw the news story about former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani who called Black Lives Matter “inherently racist” and “anti-American” — and even incorrectly claiming that black children have “a 99% chance” of killing each other.I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry, or even laugh to the point of crying.

Rudy.jpg

Appearing on CBS’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday, Giuliani had little to say about the deadly police shootings that sparked the Black Lives Matter movement and nationwide protests — including the one in Dallas that was ambushed by a cop killer.

Instead, he said it is up to the “blacks” to show respect to police officers.

“If you want to deal with this on the black side, you’ve got to teach your children to be respectful to the police, and you’ve got to teach your children that the real danger to them is not the police,” Giuliani said.

Well I say, The former New York City mayor doesn’t know the first thing about the intersection of race and crime. As a mayor he built his career on scaring white New Yorkers with fears of black criminals, to the point where he can’t help himself. While at the same time. No one denies that black urban communities have experienced violence and more crime than their white counterparts in smaller or more upsale communities.

But Rudy, you are the last person whom we need to discuss the Chicago violence amongst the black community, because as I recall it was on your watch that Abner Louima,  a Haitian was assaulted, brutalized and forcibly sodomized with a broken-off broom handle by officers of the New York City Police Department after being arrested outside a Brooklyn nightclub in 1997. You did absolutely nothing!

What about the well known Rudy Giuliani’s claim to modern greatness, during his time in office. When recalling September 11, 2001. In the wake of 9/11, Giuliani simultaneously rallied and eulogized the city through the most shocking calamity but simultaneously Giuliani exaggerated and whitewashed his own role in this event, as he would come to do about almost every aspect of his administration.

Oh Please let’s discuss, how Giuliani’s  perceived success goes to the very heart of political mythmaking or even a Living lie-that we call Rudy Giuliani your behavior was considered to have made New York an “ungovernable” city. By the start of the last decade of the twentieth century, the number of murders in New York had surpassed 2,000 a year. Public drinking and drug use, fare beating in the subways, panhandling, graffiti homelessness, perennially filthy streets, rampant pornography and prostitution in the city’s Times Square center. NYC was a dirty city-Thanks, Rudy!

Lastly, we understand Giuliani’s pride for his own self with regards to your crime credentials as a former prosecutor. Why did the rebellious daughter of former law-and-order Mayor Rudolph Giuliani get busted for allegedly stealing makeup from an upscale beauty and skin care shop near her Upper East Side home in August of 2010 sources said she allegedly stole five items, worth about $100.

Finally, Let’s count Giuliani’s  failed Presidential Run-in 2008 or when the media reported that while Mayor of New York, Giuliani had billed to obscure city agencies several tens of thousands of dollars of mayoral security expenses incurred while visiting Judith Nathan, with whom he was having an extramarital affair.

Hey Rudy, I can keep going in on you-but I like to end on a positive note, Let’s just say you are struggling to remain relevant and your timely rants get you immediate publicity. Do yourself a favor! Shut It Up!

PEACE and LOVE,

Divided America: Please don’t compare the murder of Alton Sterling and others to the Police shootings in Dallas

Posted on Updated on

Greer Front Banner 2016

As the headlines rage giving details to the recent Dallas Police shootings:

At least five police officers have been shot dead in the United States at protests over recent police killings of black men.’

Gunfire broke out late on this Thursday during an otherwise peaceful protest over two recent police killings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana . The sound of gunfire sent marchers running and police scrambling for cover.

dpdshootings_1226met

The Dallas Police Department said on Twitter : “It has been a devastating night. We are sad to report a fifth officer has died.”

I for one pray that not one more person looses life, because the wicked act is no way an accepted course of action to remedy what many believe is huge governing failure on all parts of our society. This country (USA) has the highest incarceration rate in the world for blacks, and that’s failure.”

Not much time has been given to solving one of this country’s most diabolical challenges—the persistence of homicide in poor African-American communities “that’s a failure”.. The numbers are staggering. From 1980 to 2013, 262,000 black males were killed in America-“that’s a failure.” By contrast, roughly 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam “that’s a failure. For many years the killers of these men were, in the vast majority of cases, other African-American men.

I must say I disagree with the President this time-because I don’t believe that we should balance our remarks in this time by saying “Blue Lives Matter, or All Lives Matter”-this to me is an insult that supports a strategic cover up on some folks part-to dilute the issue. The issue is that it’s time to speak to the heart of the matter and address the change that is necessary to prevent more lives from being lost.

I was immediately disturbed when watching CNN coverage of the Dallas shootings, Anchor Brian Williams kept comparing the shootout in Dallas to the murders of young Black and Latino male attacks around the country and the world. This has to change, period

Justice can no longer be unbalanced and accepted because we will all lose, and no one wins this time. We all loose through blood sweat, and more tears.

Peace and Love,
