(The Hate that Hate Made) By Gregg Greer, Editor

American Evangelist have recently been in the news for their direct financing and millions of dollars in support of Ugandan Government activities including backing and destructive support of the Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill (often called the “Kill the Gays bill,”) which mandates a death penalty and life imprisonment clause as a legislative proposal that would broaden the criminalization of same-sex relations in Uganda domestically, and further includes provisions for Ugandans who engage in same-sex relations outside of Uganda, asserting that they may be extradited for punishment back to Uganda, and includes penalties for individuals, companies, media organizations, or non-governmental organizations that just know of gay people or support LGBT rights.

In January, this year-a Documentary called The Gospel Truth, Filmed by Rodger Ross, with Reverend Kapya Kaoma, a minister who spend years studying the relationship between American Conservatives and Africa discusses the widely maintained viewpoint of American Christian missionary groups asserted that homosexuality is a direct threat to the cohesion of African families and warned Uganda is in danger of being “dragged back to the dark and evil days of Idi Amin. In the documentary, The American House of Prayer was filmed. Disturbingly, One Minister Jo Anna Watson, of Touching Hearts International Ministries, lead service by referring to the Ugandan locals stating, “They miss a Fatherly heart of Love because they haven’t been fathered properly,” help them close the door to sexual immorality and perversion.?

Ugandan LGBT Children could also face death under the bill.

Some of the most concerning provisions of the original bill required teachers and parents to report LGBT children or face penalties, banned landlords from providing lodging to any LGBT individuals and added the death penalty for aggravated Homosexuality (Which includes, among other things, being a serial Offender). The UK newspaper The Guardian has said that the bill confirms the country’s status as “unjust and infamous”, calling the law a “wretched piece of legislation,” London-based newspaper The Times also criticized the proposed law and the BBC for sponsoring a debate titled “Should homosexuals face execution?”

Mike Huckabee at the Southern Baptist Convention

The same sentiments are echoed thought our Conservative Christian World for example; When Mike Huckabee delivered a politically charged speech at the annual Southern Baptist Convention meeting, telling attendees that holy matrimony will be twisted into a perversion and formed into an unholy pretzel  As a result of same-sex marriage. Huckabee went on to criticize the armed forces and the Boy Scouts for becoming test labs for social experiments and Jason Collins, whom he mockingly called a hero for announcing his sexual proclivities. Baptist Press, the media arm of the SBC, further reports that Huckabee urged pastors to speak out against the ungodly and unholy Culture and put the Republican Party on notice in case they ease off on issues like the sanctity of life and the holiness of marriage. The future of abortion rights, Huckabee said, would determine whether or not our civilization will survive as a country and if our nation will stand or fall. “Jesus is talking about good food, biblical food,” Huckabee noted, lamenting “we are living in a time of biblical ignorance.” “People who attend church, especially young people, have an extraordinary lack of biblical depth,” he said. “According to recent surveys, the kids who grow up in our evangelical churches do not really know God.

The documentary also, films an Evangelistic session that shows a Ugandan crowd chanting “those who are ready to Kill homosexuals, hands up!”

While many of the many of the missionaries are doing Good work, the preconceived notion that the Ugandan and African locals are “uncivilized,” and “unholy,” Is assisting in a cultural war, in addition to the negative propaganda against the African populations that may lead to further the destruction within the communities that the missionaries visit. For the locals-this dangerous ideology, and a very harmful, ideology that has to be corrected.

An Inspiring story of a single mother whose son was shot to death in the streets by Police, she battled and overcome great obstacles when trying to avenge he son. Now Denika Chatman is preparing for a Historical congressional run.

BY GREGG GREER EDITOR, ONE WORLD01 PRESS

SAN FRANSICO, CA. —It’s been two years since Kenneth Harding Jr. was gunned down in the Bay Area streets by San Francisco Police for allegedly failing to pay a $2.00 transit fare. Police later claimed that Kenneth Harding Jr., 19, allegedly shot himself to death during an exchange of gunfire with police as he ran away from two officers who attempted to arrest him for alleged fare avoidance.

The case of Denika Chatman, a California single mother of three, who has been in the center of A World Wind Landmark Police Brutality/Wrongful Death Civil Case against the San Francisco City Police.

July 16, 2011. Nineteen year old Kenneth Harding Jr. was brutally gunned down and murdered. While he was riding on the local T-train on Third Street, in an area where there is constant police observation and control.

While on Third Street and Palou, Police walked straight to Kenneth and asked for proof of ticket purchase. When Kenneth could not supply a ticket, the police removed him from the train. At that time, Kenneth broke away and began to run with his hands up and also while holding his cell phone. According to the bystander, reports Police Officers Lopez and Hastings then pursued him and gunned him down from two separate directions. For thirty, minutes Kenneth laid on the Street while a growing angry crowd mocked Police for not providing immediate medical assistance and going through Harding Pockets while he lay. According to one observer/bystander Mr. Pointer, “He was face down in a prone position, frantically slapping about in his blood like a fish out of water, and no attempt was made to give him any kind of medical help,” Pointer alleged.

Gregg Greer Chair of the Guilty in Innocence Project, and a member of the SCLC stated “The San Francisco Internal Police Investigation seems very one-sided.” The Harding Case deserves a detailed review on account of questionable Police Internal Affairs handling the case, Also Officials did not properly instruct  on how it was decided that the Officers were cleared of wrongdoing when it is clear that no medical assistance was offered for Harding. ” Video confirms, for 28 minutes, initially the police effort was geared at using drawn guns to control the crowd-while Harding lay bleeding. ‘This time may have proven critical in saving Harding’s life.

                                                                            Community Organizing

To preserve Kenneth’s legacy Denika did not waste time founding The Kenneth Harding Jr. Foundation, and afterward she began to organize various Community Organizing campaigns as well as the Occupy; one example, was when Chatman issued a call to all “decent people,” in the Bay Area, primarily the local residents and unionists who worked in transit to “Shut Down MUNI which happened on July 16, 2012! Chatman dedicated the effort in honor and remembrance of her son, Kenneth Harding Jr. and for all martyrs of police violence and murder. More than 100 demonstrators interrupted San Francisco Municipal train service for about an hour before peacefully withdrawing to march down Market; also Denika is the Co-Chair of the Guilty in Innocence Project  an Organization that fights against unjust or racially biased Death Penalty Cases Nationally. Also, in commemoration of the Death of Kenneth Harding, Jr. also, Denika and her organization has supplied the community with food every Third Sunday Monthly at the very spot where the ground where Kenneth’s blood fell.

Election 2016

Election 2016no-justice

Ms Chatman has announced that she will run for State Senatorial Office  in 2016 and will not stop until she sweeps  away the last racial barrier in the San Francisco Bay Area .If Chatman is elected-it will be due to a repudiation of a historically high and growing level of unpopular civil and economic policies, committed against a minority community. Many Residents have already embraced -Chatmans call for a change in the direction and the tone of San Francisco Bay and the neighboring communities.

While 2016 promises to be historical election-so far, it’s Chatman’s race to lose. In the Solano County, California district that usually gives somewhat higher vote percentages to Republicans compared to the eight other Bay Area counties. Chatman seems likely to give her opponent a serious run for their money. Her supporters, she said, have been enormous in support for her throughout the year, as have the entire community. Currently Denika is preparing for a speaking and public support national campaign to gain “more”  momentum.

Meanwhile, Denika has advice for anyone to overcome the weight of life: ‘No matter what people tell you, you can “Choose Life.” and turn your life’s negatives into a positive.” she said

Guilty in Innocence Project -The New Movement to Exonerate George Stinney Jr. At 14 the Youngest Person executed in US History

Stinney (F)

The New Movement to Exonerate George Stinney Jr. Youngest Person ever executed in U.S. History

FLORIDA, September 21, 2013 —Today the Guilty in Innocence Project along with the website Causes  announced its first campaign to Exonerate and correct the historical record of seemingly innocent young man, who was the victim of one of the most horrible incidents of racial prejudice and a broken justice system in United States History

Clarendon County, South Carolina, -At fourteen years of age George Stinney Jr., a young boy with no criminal record in his entire life, who’s name now lives in infamy as the youngest person executed in U.S. History.  The case of  George Stinney Jr.  stinks of circumstantial, unproven and unsubstantiated prosecutorial testimony combined with a host of other injustices. The list of questionable characters is heavy, they  include;  a judge with double standards, a prosecutor who mislead jurors and a Defense Tax lawyer who was not trained for Defense of Capital Cases preparing for an election that dropped the ball and totally misrepresented Stinney.  Also don’t exclude the Racist Sheriff who may have been responsible fabricating the case from start to finish. The confession of George Stinney, Jr. was never recorded in police files Detectives offered the boy ice cream once they were done.

On the day of the Murders on March 23, 1944The defendant, a young George Stinney Jr. was walking his cow and happened to pass two white young white girls who were collecting “maypop” flowers. The two girls, 11-year-old Betty June Binnicker and seven-year-old Mary Emma Thames, had crossed paths with George and his sister Katherine Stinney the day the two girls would eventually go missing. Binnicker and Thames’ bodies were later found in a ditch the following morning. Their skulls shattered into pieces and their bodies were so brutally beaten with a railroad tie rod that many medical experts felt a 95 pound boy could not impose that amount of damage and not leave physical scars to him. Stinney even participated in the manhunt for the murder of the girls, mistakenly telling the posse members that he saw the two girls “down by the railroad”

The Confession of Stinneywas a historic miscarriage of justice and according to witnesses and court records the confession of George Stinney, Jr. was never recorded in police files and Three Sheriff’s offered the boy ice cream once they were done.

To this day, no physical evidence that he committed the crime exists. His trial — if you call it that —He was convicted and sentenced in one day of court which lasted less than two hours. Prosecution Testimony included three sheriff officers who claimed that Stinney had confessed, although that was the only evidence the prosecution presented.  No outside witnesses were called. No defense evidence was presented. The boy faced his sentence without family who were forced to move away from the city for fear of lynching from the angry mobs. Stinney Jr. would be left to face trial alone 1,000 people-whites only crammed the South Carolina courthouse. Blacks weren’t allowed inside. Jury selection began at 10:00 am and a guilty verdict just after 5:00 p.m the all-White jury deliberated for all of 10 minutes in between lunch before sentencing him to death by electrocution

On June 16, 19447:30 pm Execution Day, – Stinney walked into the chamber with his bible under his right arm. The shackles did not fit the 14 year olds feet! Stinney’s frail, 5-foot-1, 95-pound when fully seated would not touch the floor. Stinney had to step up and sit on the bible as his booster seat because his small frame would not encompass the entire electric chair seat. 2,400 volts had to be sent three times into the boy’s body, and at one point his arm slipped out of the constraints. The mask was too large and slipped off his small face, exposing Stinney’s wide open tearful eyes. Within four minutes Stinney Jr. was declared dead!

fldeathrow-electric_chairGuilty in Innocence Project-Efforts to correct the History Record of the Stinney Case

According to Gregg Greer the Chair of the Guilty in Innocence Project, we must began to combat and look at wrongful convictions in America overall-According to Amnesty International Since 1973, over 130 people have been released from death rows throughout the country due to evidence of their wrongful convictions. In 2003 alone, 10 wrongfully convicted defendants were released from death row. Example-African Americans are disproportionately represented among people condemned to death in the USA. While they make up 12 per cent of the national population, they account for more than 40 per cent of the country’s current death row inmates, and one in three of those executed since 1977.

 Jail Hands

Factors leading to wrongful convictions include

  • Inadequate legal representation
  • Police and prosecutorial misconduct
  • Perjured testimony and mistaken eyewitness testimony
  • Racial prejudice
  • Jailhouse “snitch” testimony
  • Suppression and/or misinterpretation of mitigating evidence
  • Community/political pressure to solve a case

I believe the best way we can commemorate the birth of this poor 14-year-old boy’s short life is to take a moment to really ask ourselves would we allow any member of our own family to be treated like this, secondly we must look at the cruel form of punishment to begin with

What you can do to help clear Stinney’s Name!

Guilty in Innocence Project and Causes have a joint petition Campaign to ask President Obama to Pardon George  Stinney Jr.

Guilty in Innocence Project has a Posthumous Presidential Campaign to Pardon 14 year old George Stinney because his case reveals the outrage of human rights abuse but inspires in each one of us to strive for change of Justice Laws; we are dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people to prevent future injustices. Specifically when those cases are due to racial prejudice. We also believe strongly that when we raise awareness and concern about the failings of our criminal justice system, if innocent people are imprisoned or, worse, being put to death for crimes that they did not commit, it is a facet of our society that eventually will inflame our society. We think the President will agree that year, 2015, the 71st anniversary of Stinney’s birth, is a most timely moment to correct this historic miscarriage of justice. This type of injustice should be intolerable to every American, or human being. Stand with us! Please go to causes and sign our campaign.

Greer is a member of the SCLC-Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Chair of the Guilty in Innocence Project spent 2 years in research of the case. We hope to write a final chapter in this case.  I’ve told my team that ultimately it must be our goal to protect human rights worldwide. As we enter into a new world a new day and age, we must look for change, too much pain, too many lives lost we must dedicate our lives to this cause..

Is Today’s Church Failing to get the Message out!

_
ChurchFor over 100 years now we the church has been sending out missionaries to be pastors of churches, and thus God’s order has been reversed. Our methods as a “Church,” have not been scriptural. Hence, the world is majorly still evangelized in spite of all our efforts. How will the church equip the next generation of leaders for the task of proclaiming the gospel in the global world that is even now upon us?
_
Paul
Paul, the greatest and most successful missionary the world has ever known, did not become a pastor, or a bishop. He travelled, preached, won converts, organized churches, placed them under leadership, and passed on. He did not attempt to change the manners and customs of the people. The Gospel, where necessary, did that. He placed responsibility upon the faithful, made the churches he established were self-supporting and self-propagating, and that from the very start of his mission. He founded no colleges, built no hospitals and erected no church buildings. The faithful provided for their own needs.

Is this Message for People of Faith?
Westboro Baptist Church

The message

Our “Divine” call is to “Go ye therefore and teach all nations” (Matt. 28:19), however, this command does not, in this situation, specify of what this teaching is to consist.  Accordingly, the church must have a clear direct message, despite the failure of many churches relative to this duty has led many folks to the belief that the church is nothing more than some an exclusive club that endures for no other purpose than to entertain its followers. Because of the washed down Christianity of the present day, it is unknown even by numerous believers who are nominally Christians that there is a message of help and hope which has been committed to the churches.

The Modern Church Problem
While in seminary and my earlier days as a young minister, I made a careful study of missionary methods. In many churches, I find missionaries acting as pastors of Independent churches, a thing unknown in Scripture. In one church, for instance, I visited-a number of leaders who had been long-term members, in some cases, 20, 25 and even 30 years, installed a strange tradition that they prayed over the money with one pointed finger, That finger afterward when pointed at you, becomes a symbolic blessing. The Pastor had settled down and after preaching for some time, had won a number of converts, whom they had organized into a church. During all these years, they had remained themselves in charge of themselves as pastors. Consequently their influence had not been felt beyond the confines of their local work.
Are me loosing the Youth of the Church
Are we loosing the Youth of the Church?
                                                                   Youth of the Church

In many churches-I visited I found a number of missionaries who had become pastors, who were unwilling to allow their youth, gifted though they were to go into the mother church and mentor. They (youth) were not allowed room to grow and most important we did not train them correctly in order to evangelize other youth of the community.

I do not mean to insinuate that these churches have not done good workBut after 20, 25 and 30 years of service we have to accept the fact that in our communities and in our country in which we have labored for so long, and in some cases even the local city (next block) in which they live and preach, is still (un)evangelized and crime filled. What a tragedy! They became pastors of churches instead of evangelists.

What then should they have done? We all should have followed the example of Paul. We should have kept the evangelization constantly in mind, adopting the scriptural methods that would have made this possible. The main business, the one and only business of the evangelist, is to train workers, and put responsibility upon them. We should always be appointed as evangelists or teachers according to their gifts and sent forth to evangelize. We should not be ordained as pastors and elders and placed in charge of churches, until they gained proving ground in evangelicalism. Every church should not be self-governing, and just as a hive when it repeatedly swarms not producing year after year….then a succession plan should be made!
_
Have People of Faith failed??
Have People of Faith failed??

I know, you may or may not agree with all that I have said. But one thing you cannot deny. Thus far, we have failed greatly to evangelize the “Faithful.” Then we must admit that something is wrong. I think we must all agree that our plan isn’t working. Then why not consider another? A plan tried and tested by the Early Church. A plan through which the Holy Spirit can operate. God‘s plan. God‘s way!
