As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Ephesians 4:0

_

In past reflections, we have considered the fact that if you have a calling, then you also have a caller, or, better yet, a divine Caller. Understand, that the Creator of the universe, the King of kings and Lord of lords has called you to belong to him and to join him in his creative, restorative work in the world.  It is exactly with this thought that anyone who has aspirations to be in service to God must proceed with understanding the desire for Godly truth.

_

Does Your Desire of his Truth Penetrate Your Mind and Heart

Have you allowed the wonder of this truth to penetrate your mind and heart? Do you feel honored by the fact that God wants you and has called you?

_

We all must understand that God’s purpose for Christians is that we might bring honor to His holy name as we enjoy our relationship with Him for all eternity. Since the nature of fallen humanity is such that our primary motivation is to honor ourselves and not God, a work of God’s grace is required to change motives, beliefs, and actions.

So Honoring God means humbling ourselves and taking to heart God’s person and purposes. The question that we all must ask is how much God’s will weighs heavily upon our thoughts and lives. Our teaching about God and His purposes and our treatment of the people to whom He sends us will either honor or dishonor God.

God Is 1

_

Honoring the God Who Is!

In order to please God, one “must believe that He is” (Heb. 11:6). The existence of the eternal God is asserted throughout the Bible, beginning with Genesis 1:1. Those who refuse to honor God even in the face of the clear evidence for His existence abide under the wrath of God (Rom. 1:18,19).

_

God’s attributes can be divided into those that uniquely belong to God and cannot be “communicated” to His creatures and those that can be found in some form in humans. These categories are communicable and incommunicable attributes. To fully honor God, we must be careful to know, acknowledge, and teach the attributes of God that are revealed in Scripture.

_

Has God Shown Me My Gifts? (Affirmation)

After sensing a desire for pastoral ministry, we need to ask a more objective question about our gifting. Have I seen evidence, however small, of fruitfulness in serving others through biblical teaching and counsel? And, even more important than my own self-assessment, do others confirm my giftings for pastoral ministry?

_

According to Bishop Don Adams of Building God’s Kingdom International Network. “Remember Election is important many people have a calling on their lives but it has to start with truth. An old saying that many people use to this day is “They weren’t sent they just went.” In my opinion-one way that a person will know that you are called is if they from “run from it.” ” Those that are not called “run to it.” Meaning they are too eager to hold a position.
“We don’t get excited over titles nor do we get excited over positions.”  A calling on your life is like when you take you first steps as a baby-one step at a time.
Regardless of the outcome when you are eager to learn-you are more acceptive to learn how to walk, then your status of learning is beyond what the next person would expect, but even then-we must realize that with any calling one must know that everyone is not called to lead.”

_
Perhaps you have had an experience like this in your life. But, whether you’ve been literally called by someone important to do something important or not, you have been called by the most important being in the Universe—namely, God—to do the most important thing a human being can do—is to participate in God’s creative and redemptive work-This is true.
In Order to help those who have been called we would ask that everyone practice these simple supplications daily.

The-Prayer-of-Supplication-Intercession-1
_
13 Questions of Supplication
  • Have I Repented for Past Indiscretion.
  • Am I walking in Unquestioned Obedience to God’s Will.
  • I’m I passionately Seeking After God
  • Do I really Love God
  • Do I have an Intense Love for God’s Word
  • Do I have the passion to win the Lost
  • Do I spend Time in Prayer Daily
  • Do I have a Longing to Please my Heavenly Father
  • Have I separated myself from the World
  • Do I Diligently Study God’s Word
  • Do I attend Church Regularly Did I stay in prayer, or Do I Live the Life
_
A Divine Calling is First Birthed Out of Conviction

In closing-A divine calling is first birthed out of conviction. God miraculously does a work—either immediately or progressively—on a person’s heart, and that work propels the person into action. Many refer to Paul’s Damascus road experience as the immediate heart-change of God.

_

Certainly, this is where the Holy Spirit entered Paul’s heart. However, the Father had been progressively and relentlessly pursuing Paul long before then. Paul’s heart had always belonged to God; his vision was just a little distorted  Through alignment and anointing, God sets us on track to pursue the vision and purpose he has for each of our lives.

_

Our acceptance of that calling means that we say yes to God and fearlessly abandon anything that does not work toward his ends shield-of-faith-clipart-1

Gregg L.Greer Notes from the Struggle Editorial: What is the Value of a Black Life

Posted on Updated on

Nfts.jpg

Today, not more then one hour ago, I should on the front-lines for a very important, Protest. That protest concerned a young man who was unfortunately beaten to death on the South Side of Chicago in a small Arab Liqueur store while trying to steal a two dollar bottle of beer. Yes, the fact that he was stealing was wrong but the question of the hour was did he deserve to loose his life for that worthless item.

In truth, time again and over again-we see the lives of young black men, children and women have been stamped out due to a flurry of serious underlying causes, but when the life has been taken by police officers other means that directly puts the system at fault it would seem that the value and worth of that life is substantially diminished.

During, this protest the liqueur store owner who heard prior that we were going to be protesting, decided to place a DJ outside of the store playing loud gospel music (to drown out our protest and speaking). Even a catholic priest known in the community stood on the side lines for the liqueur store in case the local media showed up. Also, it is now believed that some of our brothers took concessions from the store owners to stand down to soften the protest approach.

Where I’m from-when advocating against an enemy of the people there can be no negotiation,no handshakes, and no side deals will be made.

The moral of this story is I have to say-I am sorry to say, many of us who live in the black community are often subject to unbalanced scales of justice-when it comes black life, the scales are double lopsided, and we stand in constant jeopardy of those who want top extinguish our lives. That leaves me to ask an interesting question:
 12-years-slave

How Much Is a Black Life Worth?
According to a recent article by The Root- Using these numbers, a black life is worth about $3,364,875 million, or—on average—each taxpayer shells out $50.06 to extinguish a black life, meaning that a black life is worth less than:

  • Kendall Jenner’s Pepsi commercial (it cost the company about $5 million).
  • Ben Simmons’—who played in zero games in the NBA this season—2016 NBA salary ($5.093 million).
  • A weekend trip for Donald Trump to Mar-a-Lago ($3.6 million).
What these stats say to the many is that our system fails to show similar concerns over the lives of those in the black community and for the conditions that we deal with daily. I know for a fact that some of you would rest content with the superficial kind of social analysis that deals merely with being an instant consignee to the system and does not grapple with elimination of the underlying causes, that effects your people daily. Master says, move and you move-master says, jump and you all in body and soul.

It is unfortunate that the demonstration that took place went wrong, it is more unfortunate that our city is one of the most segregated in the nation. A city where weaker minded black’s get it on with the white “neocon” racist power structure and they leave those of us who are progressive minded in the community with no alternative, but to be crippled and hurt in most cases, yet we fight on to give a lifeline to our people.

In our tragic history-Black bodies were brought to this country as a commodity, and the only thing that has changed to-date is the volume and projection of the auctioneer’s voice. In truth they still wear a robes. They still sell you off at the highest bid, and have no use for you once your life blood has been taken.

But “New Black Thought” say’s it is now time to leave the liberal plantation and secure a role in our historical struggle for emancipation and the redemption.
Yes indeed you are witnessing the making of a modern day revolutionary, who is unashamed, unbrought, and unrelenting. So I ask you gain, “What is the value of a black life.” (glg)

The Teacher As Leader

The Teacher as Leader

In this writing I will briefly discuss what a good Christian teacher is and what a Christian teacher is not. Many people who graduate from seminary dream of being a good teacher to advance the knowledge of seminarians, congregations and Disciples of Christ in order to grow the church. I will briefly highlight three point” The Teacher As A Leader, Having Strong Communication And Learning By Demonstration.

                                                A Good Christian Teacher

A Teacher As A Leader

A teacher is a leader that is willing to be lead by others. A leader is also a teacher that is willing to demonstrate that they are capable of learning as well. A teacher must take a role in developing, expressing and engaging others.  What makes a Christian educator great? A Christian educator is a person who is willing to give instruction in biblical and theological studies as they live their life as an example for those that are willing to be lead by you through Jesus Christ. The teacher shows confidence within their students as to learning to have confidence for those who is willing to be teachers also.

teacherpicture (1)

 Having Strong Communication

They must have strong communication skills in order to get their point across so that they can be clear of what they are saying to those who follow them. What I have learned from teaching is that I had a great teacher who taught me well because I understood what he told me.

church picture

Learning By Demonstration

I also learned by demonstration. The primary focus of teaching is to teach not only what you know but to teach how it can be done. A gymnast can never know how to use a parallel bar unless he or she is taught how to use it effectively. Using a parallel bar without demonstration will be a result of injury.

teacherpicture

                                           A Good Teacher Is Not

A good teacher is not an individual who doesn’t study progressively on an ongoing basis. They will use their time to learn and develop a spiritual relationship with Christ. As they continue to grow their lifestyle will reflect what they teach. Teacher does deceive their flock and ought to lead them astray. Your position is to lead followers to Christ. The teacher is not prideful not boastful about how much they know. They are humble and will be an example on display to the world.

In my conclusion a teacher must exercise good character because his personal behavior must be of the true sign of what is to be a leader. It is their outward expression of God’s word is one of the sure signs of human behavior and character of a Christian. To achieve this way of life a person who is saved must be a living example of what it means to be a true Christian in the faith. Your personal walk with Christ will demonstrate how much you really love a person whether it’s a family member, friend or relative. As a teacher he or she will present themselves as being a person of integrity. shield-of-faith-clipart-1

A group of civil rights and immigrant activists will gather on this Friday morning to express fears over the direction President Donald Trump is taking the country with immigrant rights.

They fear families will be torn apart by deportation and blocked from reuniting with relatives seeking to flee war and oppression in other countries after the president signed a pair of executive orders tightening immigration measures.

“We are working to wake up those who refuse to believe that “making America great again”  means spreading a message of racial separatism and hate.  closing off our nation with walls, illegally detaining men, women, and children, stripping cities of federal funding and tearing families apart with deportations,” For the record Freedom First International is part of the group also participated in the massive Trump protest in Chicago that put 16,000. people in Downtown.” Gregg L.Greer President of Freedom First International.

 For the record:

At the start of this effort the Family members and Community activist-Leadership will hold a joint Press Conference (briefing) -This Friday/morning April 7, 2017 in Broadview, IL at 7:15 AM, people of faith, civil rights activist and others will join together in a prayer vigil-protest demonstration at Broadview Immigration Processing Center (1930 Beach St., Broadview, IL) to support those who are in the immigration deportation process, the families of those being deported, and to be a public witness to the injustices of our harsh (enhanced) immigration system. The event will be coordinated by members of several organizations who will join leadership on the ground. Stand with us!

GUNCD

When 30,000 Americans die each year due to gun violence, it is time to acknowledge that we are suffering from a modern plague. When schoolchildren are gunned down by single shooters with a high-capacity magazine, we suffer from a modern plague. And, when criminals can buy weapons without having their backgrounds checked, we suffer from a modern plague.

This Vigil will be part of our early effort to “Prevent the critical Issue of Gun Violence” for 2017 in areas in Chicago where this plague is taking young lives in abundance. (This corner is where a three year old is in critical condition after being shot in the head in an apparent accident.) The goal is to stop unnecessary loss of life!

WHY: The issue of gun violence — more specifically, Chicago’s gun violence — is by no means a new issue. However, President Trump has singled out the city, even threatening to send in the federal troops, as a part of his “law and order” campaign. The current discourse coming from the White House focuses on more police, more prison and increased criminalization of Black and Latino communities as a solution. Unfortunately, this narrative of retribution fully incorporates the Fraternal Order of Police viewpoint without considering the concerns of the community.
