They (police) busted through the front door, guns drawn and demanded answers from the people inside. According to reports-the 10th district Police were executing a warrant as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation that led them to the 4th district residence. Officers said during the operation, they inadvertently breached the door of the incorrect residence. Shanae Cross, the homeowner, said she was in the bathroom when the officers broke down her down with guns drawn.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the officers moved through the bungalow, trying to handcuff a 17-year-old boy.

Press Conference at City Hall tomorrow

The family members lead by Cross are conducting a press conference at City Hall tomorrow to ask for specific demands from the city including addressing a pending civil litigation. Attending the conference will be prominent community activist and also family members of other Chicago Police Brutality Incidents.
To some observers such mistaken raids are not just that mistakes caused by mounting police frustration with the growing drug problem. Instead-The Cross Family and Community activist want immediate change and all agree that the time is pat due for Chicago to address it’s police brutality issues against folks in poor communities head on.The group also wants to bring light to the fact that almost a year to date-The scathing Justice Department investigation was released which showed-the Chicago Police Department is beset by widespread racial bias, excessive use of force, poor training and feckless oversight of officers accused of misconduct.
The finding issued January 2017 as the Justice Department and the city of Chicago issued “a statement of agreement” to find remedies to improve policing in the nation’s third-largest city and repair a shattered public trust.

“Sadly, our thorough investigation into the Chicago Police Department found that far too many residents of this proud city have not received that kind of policing especially when it comes to poor community’s, and communities of color.                                                                                            Freedom First International

“CPD deeply regrets the error and the inconvenience caused on Christmas weekend,” Anthony Guglielmi, Chief Communications Officer, said in an email statement.

The Ballot or the Bullet

Press Briefing

Friday, May 19, 2017at noon

Chicago City Hall-121 N LaSalle Dr. Chicago, IL 60602 (second floor, press area)

Introduction

Chicago City Hall, The Windy City has kept its crown as the most corrupt major city in the country over the last 40 years. Since the U.S. Department of Justice began to collect data in 1976, Chicago’s Northern District of Illinois, which includes Chicago, Cook County, and 17 other counties, has had 1,642 convictions, according to Simpson. That compares with 1,316 in LA and 1,260 in the New York district, which includes Manhattan, the Bronx, and six other counties.

Opposition

The organizers plan to cover the following primary issues:

(City Hall)

  • 29 alderman have been convicted of crimes related to his or her official duties since 1972. Local Politicians act outside of public concerns this is a serious problem.

(Rahm Emanuel)

  • Mayor Emanuel was the topic of several Chicago new reports in 2012, following claims by the Chicago Teachers Union that the mayor had been withholding resources from Chicago Public Schools.
  • Mayor Emanuel also received flak for his decision to leave Chicago amidst plans of a Chicago-wide teachers’ strike in order to speak at the Democratic National Convention.
  • Rahm Emanuel has said, he didn’t understand the gravity of Laquan McDonald’s shooting death at the hands of a Chicago police officer until just before the city settled with the teen’s family last spring, and that he wasn’t aware other officers may have falsified reports about the shooting until just after the video was released to the public. Most of the public believes Emanuel is responsible for the cover-up and delay of this investigation.

(Chicago Police)

  • The police force wants to usher a signal to the public that CPD regards the use of lethal assault weapons as an acceptable solution to problems so the public as the same right. That’s a dangerous standard!
  • CPD Uses Deadly Force in Violation of the Fourth Amendment and Department ….. point—igniting longstanding concerns about CPD officers’ use of force, and the City’s systems.

Press Statement

This group of national Community organizers have been working diligently to address and combat Political corruption and Police Brutality in Chicago. This day like Malcolm historically advised African-Americans to judiciously exercise their right to vote, but on this symbolic day, we (organizers) will caution that if the local government continues to prevent African Americans and poor community from attaining full rights-Then, they will sanction leadership and call out those leaders who act outside of public interest more aggressively.

Social Justice Organizers “Cry Out” in strong opposition against

CHICAGO ALDERMAN’S CALL FOR POLICE ACCESS TO HIGH-POWERED WEAPONS

Press Briefing

Monday, May 8. 2017at 12:00 Noon at

Alderman Edward M. Burke-14th Ward Office:

2650 W. 51st Street Chicago, IL 60632

*********************************************************************************

The police force is sworn to protect and defend citizens – in their view, it is, in fact, their duty to risk their lives to rescue children and others (and so they deserve our respect). But unless martial law is declared, where the civilian government admits it has lost control, any death at the hands of a police officer is at best an accident to be thoroughly investigated and at worst, murder to be treated as such. In a democratic society, police are not outside the law, they are citizens sworn to uphold the law, Police are not a military occupying force. As such, their use of weapons of lethal force is a bad statement for the community because it will usher a signal to the public that CPD regards the use of lethal force as an acceptable solution to problems so the public as the same right. That’s a dangerous standard!

For the record, a long gun is generally designed to be fired braced against the shoulder, in contrast to a handgun, but may include mounted firearms while in artillery a long gun would be contrasted with a howitzer.

The New Chicago Fraternal Order of Police President Kevin Graham said he wants more officers to be trained on how to use rifles and for the weapons to be available on the beat.

“I’m not looking for one in every car. I am looking for officers who are qualified to carry them to have them as another tool to address crime in our city, Graham said. “

“The police department has to begin thinking outside the box and get these officers certified so we can carry these weapons,” Alderman Ed Burke (14th Ward) said.

The questions we must ask ourselves. We could ask-Why would any police need an assault rifle and what communities would these weapons go into? The statement below is from one of the organizers of the Press Conference:

Chicago Police armed with “assault rifles,” horries our Black Communities.  CPD seeks to be judge, jury, and executioner with assault rifles. Given the recent DOJ Report which concluded a ‘Pattern of racial discrimination’ that has resulted in black and brown people being murdered with impunity and as of right now-no local consent decree is in place.’ To suggest that the CPD is on board with this is the height of irresponsibility, as CPD has already failed to respectfully engage the black community.         Eric Russell, President of Tree of Life Justice League of Illinois

This Ends Now!

For immediate Release: Social Justice Activist call for Accountability and Answers in the death of Shawn Brider and Kujuan Raye Press Conference at 6:30PM at Chicago Police Board Meeting

(We will ask for the resignation of Eddie Johnson and The Mayor)

Today April 20, 2017 –at 6:30 pm at Chicago Police HQ

 3510 S. Michigan Ave, Chicago. IL 60637

A group of civil rights activist said, Shawn Brider should have never been arrested Last Sunday night after falling asleep in a parked car with a child inside. The man was found dead about 4:30 a.m., the public was informed Brider had died in custody at the 3rd District lock-up.

Activist, strongly feel that Brider should never have been arrested on Sunday night for just merely falling asleep in a parked car even with a small child inside.  Activist and Briders family are questioning why Brider was taken into custody in the first place.
“He was just waiting for his girlfriend to come downstairs and he nodded off because he had been driving. They arrested him for that,” his Sister Kewonda Brider said.

Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has done an autopsy, but the results are pending more test results. Police are conducting a death investigation, and no further information has been made immediately available.

John Poulos’s Investigation for Kujaun Raye’s Murder

poulus2
SGT.JOHN D.POULOS

Officer John Poulos is the Chicago Police Sgt. who is accused of killing Kujaun Raye, has a long history of various corrective actions in his file, 6 cases which include two cases of false arrest. Yet and still this officer was commended for, “Officer of the Month” in April of 2015.

2015 John D. Poulos received an award for employee of the month for April 2015. Also, John had been promoted to Sgt and also an instructor in the Education & Training Division teaching L.E.M.A.R.T. (Law Enforcement Medical Aid & Rescue Training) as well worked in the 007th District during his career. The annual salary is $101,442.

The investigation apparently went dormant because Poulos stayed off the job for another seven years, according to department sources.

Police Supt. Eddie Johnson has ordered an audit to determine why the 2004 investigation of Poulos’ possible ownership interest in a bar, a violation of department policy, has never been closed.

Owning or working at an establishment that sells alcohol is a firing offense, but Poulos went on disability shortly after the department’s Internal Affairs Division began looking at his ownership of a bar in 2004. The investigation apparently went dormant because Poulos stayed off the job for another seven years, according to department sources.

The still-open case was discovered when the department began investigation Poulos’ fatal shooting in November of 19-year-old Kajuan Raye, CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

“The Black Community in Poor Chicago are systematically being worn down and worn out by the constant microaggressions, When a suspect is arrested for merely sleeping in a car, we would have to ask the question where is the accountability? Did Brider have to be arrested and taken to the district or could he have been ticked? Even in the Case of Kujuan Raye-The evidence is super compelling-it shows Sgt.John D. Poulos should have been fired, and the fact that with the lenghtly file he was promoted paints a picture of a Police Department that, is “out of touch.”

The Chicago Police Department is in urgent need of reform. While the problems are clear, the path to solutions is filled with controversy. Even after Chicago Police Department was sanctioned by federal investigators who found that officers routinely used excessive force against minorities and tolerated “racially discriminatory conduct” by officers we still are seeing widespread abuse and issues that could be routinely avoidable.”What needs to happen is the time has now come for a frank and insightful discussion of what it will take to achieve true police reform in Chicago.  We will now push harder for the city to reform its policing policy. If Chicago is to move beyond its community violence issues and distrust of Public Officials then our Mayor and possibly the chief have to go!

Pastor Gregg L.Greer-Freedom First International, SCLC Chicago

For Immediate Release: Activist Community Rally to Stand to Voice Opinion for Chicago Police Reform Change with the Release of DOJ report

media-debrief

For Immediate Release: Activist Community Rally to Stand to Voice Opinion for Chicago Police Reform Change with the Release of DOJ report!

Dirksen Federal Bldg, 219 S Dearborn St, Chicago, IL 60604 at 10:00am

In Chicago on Friday Morning the Department of Justice is expected to release it’s expectedly scathing report based on the federal investigation to access if the Chicago Police Department violated the civil rights of minority citizens with Police Brutality.

For the activist community leadership on the ground. We strongly believe through consensus that the Mayor, chief of Police and civic leadership who have been amicable to the mayor’s agenda have lost valuable time over the course of the past year by trying to adhere to artificial “benchmarks,” that have no real effect on true reform.

To date this trend continues and the Mayor and team continue to miss the mark by the way just merely responding to questions about whether the department needs to have in place a federal consent decree. We activists believe laying out new CPD department training and use of force rules are only a step in the process due to the fact that CPD officers today continue to act outside of public interest. If in fact the

The mayor recently said in an interview, “our commitment to reform will not change with the administration.” We activists believe that in the midst of a Trump regime that has promised to be Pro-“Police Enforcement and Prosecution friendly,” the move and emphasis for greater Chicago-must be on restorative justice and to bring balance to a fractured “Mistrusting” Chicago Community.

ANALYSIS NOTE:

Emanuel also stands no chance of restoring public trust in the black and minority community, which were already shattered by his handling of the Laquan McDonald shootings Homan Square, Chicago Police Brutality, unless he leads the down progression toward eliminating police abuses that have dragged on for decades.

Although there’s no turning back on the road to police reform, the consequences of Friday’s announcement could be enormous for Emanuel.

But on today’s date a “question must be asked in lieu of the DOJ report release-That question is whether the Mayor and team have been truly effective on their job, or has the mayor truly comprised his credibility, and loyalty to the better interest of Chicago Citizens with regard to serious reform.

My open letter to Mayor Rahm Emmanuel

Posted on Updated on

Greer Front Banner 2016
Dear Rahm,

In the many days prior to this, I have spoken to you though a chosen method of public disclose such a media. As the President of my organization and the local leader of S.C.L.C -Freedom First International which has numerous affiliated organizations throughout the country.-I would hope that you would accommodate any suggestions offered purely as a means to provide help, for the suffering and oppressed in our community. For the record the efforts that you’ve made downtown have made a noticeable difference, for this accomplishment- I know many would appreciate.  I would also ask, that you remain aware of the continued efforts of those who are on the ground in impoverished communities, and continue to reach out and bring new ideas to the table outside of the groups that you may have longstanding “comfortable,” relationship, even if those group don’t embrace your office, and your position as Chicago Mayor.

You must now finds ways to encourage our thousands of African Americans to participate in a unique Chicago experience- to “secure and entrench themselves, or you will find yourself in a development that will inevitably lead to a growing frightening racial and political nightmare-for purposes of clarification-what we are seeing is the growing divide in the city amongst racial lines, a fact which I sure you know, but in the aftermath of the growing internal violence, repeated community violence, and growing dissatisfaction that goes above political discourse. Many of us would hope for immediate attention. For example;

Besides complaints of blatant discrimination and the use of offensive and menacing actions, such as the Mt.Greenwood Protest that was lead by Blue Lives Matters. Many of the group-Chicago officers who (had) have lamented persistent racial insensitivity, which was demeaning and at the same time-they were wearing police colors, and facts show that many who stood in those ranks were police. The problem that exist- if that is the case, then are these officers are the same one’s patrolling the our(black and minority) communities-with the same blatant racist tendencies, I would ask that you publicly sanction racism coming from within the ranks of CPD while, you may say, that policy is already in place, but urgent times-require a urgent and consistent “reminder” effort. If Those officers are the same ones who patrol the black and minority communities, I for one would be interested in further investigation to see if these office have any previous racial discrepancies (disciplinary actions) in their file. A move which, my organization is willing to support. Lastly, consider shifting the police staffing on demographics. Black officers should be better equipped to handle black citizens, on a psychological level in black areas-a move which may help to quell the the growing number of Police involved shootings in the black community.

Lastly, what I was referring to when I suggested, “Thousands of African Americans to participate in a unique Chicago experience,” I would ask that you consider rebuilding C.A.P.S to provide cultural sensitivity and cater special emphasis- more to the areas that are challenged. Also, My organization and partners conducted a press conference outside of Police District 7 on Nov.26, 2016. There we asked for you to, ‘please’ without hesitation to roll out-Body Camera’s at challenged districts-like District 7. For reasons that no further explanation is needed.

I will end by saying all public displays of protesters protection by the police are in stark contrast to the typical usual treatment that most black and minority citizens, experience and, please promote those moments as they are good for public relations, and will help “to preserve the community. Thanks for any time reading my “open” letter.
